Important Information
To become an authorized driver, you must have a permanent driver’s license issued by a U.S. state, U.S. territory, or province of Canada. International driver’s licenses are not acceptable nor are provisional or probationary licenses. If you have a history of moving violations or driving under the influence, you may not receive authorization even if your driver’s license is in good standing in the state of issue.
Step-by-Step
- 1
Complete a driver history questionnaire and vehicle usage agreement.
- 2
Give the driving history questionnaire, vehicle usage agreement, and a copy of your valid driver’s license to your departmental fleet safety representative, your supervisor, or to risk management.
- 3
Take the 20-question online test.
- 4
Schedule and take a behind-the-wheel van certification test with the University Department of Public Safety.
If your motor vehicle record is approved by risk management, and if you pass the online test and van certification test, you will receive notification by email of your approval to drive a University fleet vehicle. Normally, notification is received within two days of completion of the tests.
