Ensuring compliance for more than $270 million of research funding
Sponsored research accounting (SRA) handles the accounting for about 2,000 federal and non-federal grants and contracts; from the time that a new award is opened to the time we close it out and send the final financial report to the sponsor. Along the way, SRA creates invoices, receives cash (over $270 million in 2010), issues interim financial reports, and monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with federal regulations and with differing sponsor requirements. SRA works closely with ORPA, the departments, the sponsors, and with external and internal auditors to answer questions and resolve administrative issues as they arise.
