Stop Payment on a Check Step-by-Step

Important Information

If a payment check is lost or stolen, or if for some other reason you feel the need to stop payment on a check, here’s how.

Step-by-Step

  • 1

    Call the Financial Service Center at (609) 258-3080, or email and describe the situation.

    • If the check has not been cashed, a stop payment will be placed.
    • If the check has been cashed, the Financial Service Center will provide you with the check information, or email or send you a copy of the cashed check.
  • 2

    If, you receive the copy of the check and you believe it may have been fraudulently cashed, or have other questions, contact the Financial Service Center.
