Apply for the Standard Mortgage Program Step-by-Step

LAST UPDATED: June 29, 2016

Important Information

You must be eligible and the property you wish to purchase must be eligible for the standard mortgage program. Submission of preliminary financial information does not constitute a formal mortgage application, but is part of a pre-qualification step. Once you are pre-qualified and have an accepted offer to purchase a property, you may complete a formal mortgage application package.

  • 1

    Check the eligibility requirements.

  • 2

Complete a mortgage worksheet. Send or fax the form to mortgage services. All information you provide is confidential. An authorization to obtain credit report form and an authorization to share information form should be completed as well but should not be e-mailed due to our confidentiality policy. Faxing the disclosure authorization is acceptable, but delivery at the time of the in-person meeting is preferred.

  • 3

When your forms are received, a representative from mortgage services will schedule a meeting with you.

  • 4

If, after this meeting, you are pre-qualified, you may proceed to negotiate the purchase of a property within the location requirements.

  • 5

When the seller accepts your offer to purchase, contact mortgage services for the mortgage application package and make an appointment with a representative of mortgage services.

  • 6

At the appointment, you will submit the formal mortgage application package and any additional documentation you've been asked to provide.

At the in-person meeting with mortgage services you’ll discuss how to find out about the status of your mortgage and the timeline for closing.
