What You Should Know

Project In Ended Status

The Project Status gradually prevents transactions from posting on capital and sponsored projects that are outside the project’s period of performance. The following rules apply when a project is in ended status.

  • If a new encumbrance is entered with a project in Ended status, the user will receive an error message that will prevent them from moving forward.
  • Cost transfers and voucher payments can occur 90 days after the project end date. A warning message will appear to alert the user that the transaction is being done while the project is in “Ended” status. The warning message does not prevent the user from using the Project ChartField and the user can click through the warning.

To spend 90 days past the project end date, Departments/PIs need to work with ORPA and SRA.

If you are receiving an error and the project has not ended, for example the end date may not be accurate in the system, and you cannot move forward, remember that the "ended" status prevents any new commitments.  If the project is receiving an increment or extension, follow up with your ORPA representative or email for more information, or to request that the system be updated with the appropriate end dates.
