Tax Exempt Status

Federal Taxes
The Trustees of Princeton University is exempt from federal income tax as an educational institution under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

State Taxes
In U.S. states, the University is exempt from state sales and use taxes on goods and services. When you make a purchase on behalf of the University, present the University’s exemption number printed on the front of your Departmental Credit card, or present the actual state exemption certificate.
